Remus Baptist Church was organized on September 25, 1893, by ordained ministers Rev. S. C. Eastham and Rev. J.M. Vincent.
Eleven members were given the right hand of fellowship on this date. The first pastor was Rev. Tom G. Ward. The land for the church was given by Mr. Dan J. McLauchlin. Later, more land was donated by Mr. W. F. and his wife, Nannie McLauchlin. Years later, Mr. Junior and Mrs. Sammie Burkes donated land to the church. - New BuildingNovember 1922
In November 1922, the Church voted to build a new building, which is the present sanctuary. Since that time, the church has been bricked and also renovated inside.
- Adding On1974
In 1974, a Fellowship Hall and two Sunday School Rooms were added. Later, a Pastor's study and five more Sunday School Rooms were built. The Baptistery and a pavilion have been added since then.
- Enlarging CemeteryJuly 1994
In July 1994, the church bought the property of the late Robert and Iva Lou Burkes across from the cemetery. In January 1995, we voted to sell the timber and enlarge the cemetery.
- Roof & SidingFebruary 1996
In February 1996, we put a new roof on the Church. Also, at this time, we put
vinyl siding on the Church and Sunday School rooms. - More PewsNovember 1996
In November 1996, we purchased sixteen pews to accomodate the new growth.
- New LandscapingMar - Apr 1997
In March and April 1997, the landscaping was done.
- First RenovationJune - Aug 1997
In June, July, and August 1997, the Church was completely renovated inside. New windows were installed, and the pews were refinished and reupholstered.
